Fall Los Angeles Oddities Flea Market

Atlas Obscura hosts the legendary Oddities Flea Market‘s return to Los Angeles, featuring a curious, curated collection of the best purveyors of the odd and unique. The Oddities Market will feature three floors of top-tier artists and purveyors of the curious including Ryan Matthew Cohn and event sponsors The Dark Art Emporium , Memento Mori LA, and Century Guild.

CicLAvia Heart of LA

Join us on October 6 for a FREE and ticketless special edition of CicLAvia‘s beloved Heart of LA route, presented by Metro and celebrating UCLA’s centennial.

Come along for the ride as we explore Westlake, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Boyle Heights, and DTLA (where UCLA originally began as a teachers college), by bike, board, or foot. 

L.A. Comic Con

Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration 2019

Free || October 13 || Grand Park

Join in on the second year of the Indigenous Peoples Day celebration in the City of Los Angeles! This community celebration will be held on Sunday, October 13, from 4 pm to 9 pm, at Los Angeles City Hall and Grand Park.

This year’s theme will focus on the Past, Present, and Future, with a call to action for our state and federal lawmakers to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day.

Cinema Phantasmagoria: Hocus Pocus

$22 – $28 || October 12 || Million Dollar Theatre

Cinema Phantasmagoria is an immersive haunted theater experience with classic horror films. Guests step into a mysterious 1920’s movie palace where time stands still. Sinister ushers, strolling musicians, a demonic barber and an undead Master of Ceremonies will entertain as you hit the bar before settling in to watch a modern classic horror film. And, if you dare, take the historic VIP Backstage Ghost Tour and step into the depths of the gothic Million Dollar Theatre.

Art Battle Champions with Q-Mixers

$20 || October 18 || Hotel Figueroa

On Friday, October 18th, Art Battle and Q Mixers present a live painting tournament featuring 8 of LA’s best live artists. This event at Hotel Figueroa LA is the third episode of a national tournament of live art. Only the best have been invited to perform. These 8 Art Battle Champions will take to their easels to battle for audience votes and against 20 minutes on the clock.

Opening Weekend – Shirin Neshat: I Will Greet the Sun Again

Originated by The Broad, Shirin Neshat: I Will Greet the Sun Again is the largest exhibition to date of internationally acclaimed artist Shirin Neshat’s approximately 30-year career. The exhibition, which presents over 230 photographs and eight immersive video installations, offers a rare glimpse into the evolution of Neshat’s artistic journey as she explores topics of exile, displacement, and identity with beauty, dynamic formal invention, and poetic grace.

DTLA Zombie Bar Crawl!

$35 || October 26 || LA Biergarten

Those thriller arms you’ve been practicing? You can finally put them to good use! Come in costume and roam the streets of downtown LA stopping in and out of over 15 bars and nightclubs – all with the power of your all-access pass. When you check in, you’ll get a survival kit that’ll get even the most lifeless of zombies through the night. Free welcome shots, drinks specials coupons, and nightclub entry passes. Free || October 30 – November 10 || FIGat7TH

Four giant, illuminated humanoid figures will invade the planet this year, taking over FIGat7th. Australian artist Amanda Parer’s edgy and ephemeral artworks explore the natural world, its fragility and our role within it. 

Visitors will be welcomed to lightly touch the installations, which will be available to the public every day from 11 am to 11 pm.
