August 6 – LA County Fair POP-UP Fair at Grand Park

The LA County Fair is hosting a “POP-Up” to celebrate the official announcement of this year’s LA County Day on August 6th at Grand Park in Downtown. The pop-up fair is to celebrate the announcement of LA County Day on Sunday Sept. 1. On this day, LA County residents can enjoy the fair with reduced admission prices and exciting programming.
Admission, Ferris Wheel ride and games at the “Pop-Up” Fair will be free of charge to the attending public, and Fairgoers will get a chance to try some Fair food. For more information, visit www.LACountyFair.com.
August 8 – Crafting & Cocktails | “Succulent Sculptures”

Join Makers Mess for a Succulent Sculpture workshop! Choose from an abundance of succulents to create an arty sculptural arrangement inside a mini wooden box. August 9 – Travesuras Reggaeton Party!

Dress to impress and join the party people DTLA at the Reggaeton inspired Travesuras party!
The state-of-the-art Globe Theatre will be home to one of the best parties in LA. Special Guest DJ’s and surprises will be happening all night.

August 10 – Cartwheel Art Tours: “Underground LA”
Explore the city’s “underground” past ranging from famous Prohibition-era murders to the famous speakeasy haunts frequented by the Hollywood elite.
This experience includes a few stops under the busy streets of Los Angeles to discover a century-old tunnel and speakeasies, alongside more modern interpretations of the city’s hidden watering holes.

August 14 – Black Fire Sessions at The Broad
8pm to 11pm || The Broad Museum || $25
The Broad’s Black Fire Sessions, which celebrates Soul of a Nation: Art in the Age of Black Power 1963-1983, starts with a performance by legendary composer and multi-instrumentalist Anthony Braxton, in collaboration with harpist Jacqueline Kerrod in the lobby of the museum. Kelsey Lu will offer her pensive, soulful vocals, and sensual cello, and Jimetta Rose will conduct an a cappella jazz choir before reappearing with a trio of musicians to show her powerful lyrics and vocal styling. Beans will perform his recent politically-charged rhymes and fractured new school narratives. Maurice Harris will stage a durational intervention in the Soul of a Nation galleries throughout the event.

August 22 – Missy N’ Friendz

Calling all fly girls and party people! MISSY N FRIENDZ is a night paying homage to one of the queens of hip hop – Missy Elliott – and her friends: Timbaland, Lil Kim, Aaliyah, Eve, Fatman Scoop – and much more!

August 25 – LATINAFest 2019
12:00 pm to 6:00 pm || $10 || La Plaza de Arte y Cultura
LATINAFest brings together thousands of women, eager to engage and network with Latinas from a variety of industries– Entertainment, Culinary, Financial, Beauty and Spas, Entrepreneurs and more — all sharing their experiences, skills, and wisdom.
Over 100 Latina entrepreneurial vendors will be offering everything from clothing, Jewelry, sweets, shoes, hats, cultural clothing and wares, handwriting analysis, financial information, treatments and massages.
LATINATalk sessions, including presentations by inspirational Latina leaders and spoken word poets will be presented onstage.
And don’t forget the Cocktail Garden for refreshing spirits prepared by Illegal Mezcal.
