One of the third wave coffee movement’s biggest players is growing its footprint in Los Angeles, as Stumptown Coffee looks to cement its place with a sparkling new Downtown shop at the edge of South Park and the Fashion District.

This new Stumptown opens to the world tomorrow, with plans to not only caffeinated one of the city’s most rapidly-changing areas, but to add hot food from the folks at Winsome as well. that means breakfast burritos and vegan grain bowls, among other things, with pastries still supplied by Sugarbloom Bakery. Coffee will of course come from the company’s existing roastery in the Arts District, which has been in operation since 2013.

The space itself is small but mighty, offering 30 indoor seats across small cafe tables and a large banquette, with some seats looking out onto the street beyond. Sidewalk seating will arrive this summer. Meanwhile, artist Nathaniel Russel has put together a large and colorful mural behind the black coffee bar.

Meanwhile, the opening of this new cafe coincides with a ton of buzz in the immediate neighborhoods. There’s a giant food hall planned for Santee Alley just up the street, while South Park is (eventually) getting restaurants from Walter and Marge Manzke of Republique, and Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne of Lucques and A.O.C.

Stumptown opens in Downtown tomorrow, keeping hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
