Baon DTLA brings Filipino fare to downtown Los Angeles

A new Filipino and food delivery service spot has opened up shop in the neighborhood.

A new Filipino and food delivery service spot has opened up shop in the neighborhood Called Baon DTLA, the fresh addition is located downtown at 419 Seventh St.

The newcomer is a project from chef AC Boral, Eater LA reports, who is “known primarily for his Long Beach-based FIlipino pop-ups carrying the moniker Rice & Shine.”

On the menu, look for small plates such as street tacos with adobo pork belly, cotija cheese and strawberry relish. A variety of signature rice bowls are on offer, complete with toppings like poached shrimp, ginger, taro leaves and fried egg.

Room for dessert? Come try ube suman — a sticky rice cake cooked in banana leaves with ensaymada butter. (You can check out the full menu here.)

With a five-star rating out of 15 reviews on Yelp so far, Baon DTLA seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
