Los Angeles Aerial Photography

Do you enjoy exploring our city and photographing beautiful views of Los Angeles? Here is a look at Los Angeles through a photographer's aerial point of view and how you can also experience this breathtaking experience.

Social media is the perfect platform for any artists to promote your work and may also be the key to becoming a successful photographer in this day and age. Galleries and art shows has now evolved to a daily digital gallery everyone can access on their mobile device with the touch of a button.  Being an artist who mainly drew and painted since the age of four, I can honestly admit I developed a new love and interest for photography due to my fascination with Instagram. Los Angeles Aerial Photography

Living in Los Angeles and posting photos of many popular locations this iconic city is known for, resulted in instant recognition and a rapid growth in followers (interest). I first started off by taking landscape photographs of popular locations in Los Angeles, which include: famous beaches, local parks, and the ever so popular downtown L.A. My photos were shared on local television news shows, featured on Instagram accounts with huge followings, and won several Instagram photo contests. As a result of the continued success, I transformed this hobby into a passion.

One of the photo contests I won was sponsored by @Conquer_LA and @Anthelion.Helicopters , in which the prize was a free aerial photography helicopter flight over Downtown Los Angeles. @Conquer_LA is a very popular social media account on Instagram featuring the best street/landscape photos of Los Angeles. @Anthelion.Helicopters is a helicopter company that caters to photographer’s needs as far as service and ensuring you get the best views of Los Angeles. Prior to entering the contest, I had never been on a helicopter, but always planned on flying in a helicopter to take aerial photographs of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles is home to millions of diverse people making it a very competitive place to stand out and get noticed in any field you practice. As an artist, I find myself wanting to give my audience something different and produce visuals they’ve never seen from me before. After exploring and shooting places in Los Angeles for years, I found myself trying to access rooftops, trespassing into abandoned places and anywhere not too many people had access to.

Flying with Anthelion Helicopters gave me the perfect opportunity to capture Los Angeles from a new and spectacular perspective over the city. The view from a helicopter gives you a clear unobstructed overview of the entire city allowing the photographer to compose and frame shots freely. Alex, founder of Anthelion Helicopters piloted the aircraft during my flight. I was able to communicate with him throughout the entire flight, in which I directed him with the exact locations I wanted to visit to achieve the photographs I had in mind. Clear communication between Alex and I was key to this flying experience. We flew over the 6th Street Bridge, Dodger Stadium and hovered around Downtown. The breathtaking views from such a high altitude could not be compared to anything I have shot before.

I recommend not just photographers, but for everyone who enjoys exploring our city to experience Los Angeles from a helicopter. Their affordable aerial photography flight over Downtown L.A. costs $99 per person with a minimum of three people per flight. Besides the aerial photography, Anthelion Helicopters provide different tours throughout Los Angeles and also offer a flight training program. My favorite time to fly would be during the transition from Golden Hour to sunset, because the sky displays an array of vibrant warm colors gradually fading into cool hues.

After having such a great experience during my aerial photography flight I wanted to find a way to bring the same opportunity to you. With the help of Happening In DTLA, I was able to partner up with Anthelion Helicopters to put together a contest where you have the chance to win an aerial photography flight over Downtown LA. The official contest will start on November 21, 2016 and will end on November 27, 2016. Official rules will be announce on Instagram via @happeningindtla and @anthelion.helicopters. Therefore, be sure to follow both accounts for updates.
