LA has a new soccer stadium where the Sports Arena once sat. Welcome home LAFC!

It looks so perfect that those who’ve seen it closely wonder if the 86,000 Sqft. of Bermuda grass is real! It is and after 20 months of construction and $350 Million, Banc of California Stadium is open and ready for action. It’s the first L.A. built open-air stadium since 1962. Opening ceremonies last Wednesday included a  ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Mayor and other dignitaries; including Magic Johnson one of many stars in the ownership group.

The stadium is home to the Los Angeles Football Club and Saturday the stadium saw it’s first action with fans entering for the Official Watch Party for the game against the Montreal Impact. LAFC won 5-3 with a comeback to bring their record to 4-2 this year.

The first home game will be this Sunday evening against the Seattle Sounders.

The stadium boasts 22,000 seats; with the closest only 12 feet from the touchline. All 17,500 season tickets have already been sold; leaving only single-game tickets, mostly in the North-End supporters’ section.LAFC Soccer Stadium Los Angeles


No stadium is complete without an excellent lineup of food and drink. One the beer front, macro and local craft beers from places like the Three Weavers Brewing. 

Food options include Multiple stands from Chicas Tacos, Bludso’s BBQ sandwiches, Beer Belly, Seoul Sausage with Korean flavored favorites, pizza from The Crest, Middle Eastern from The Roost, pressed sandwiches from The Press, LA Rotisserie and more.

There will also be soft server ice cream from CVT Soft Serve.

Using 5 million pounds of steel, the stadium was built on the former site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. It is located in Exposition Park, steps from the Coliseum, USC, and future site of the Lucas Museum.

It is LEED certified and the roof is 85 feet above street level.

It is accessible from the Expo Line, 5% of parking spaces will have EV charging stations and includes 440 bike parking spots and the bike path is integrated with My Figueroa Project.

Michael Govia, a local Realtor and Soccer Aficionado lives nearby and was extremely excited to see the stadium complete and looks forward to catching many games.

He says the stadium is “state of the art, unreal and is a great asset to the neighborhood and says Here we come Olympics 2028!!
