Kick-off the month of July with Live Nation’s Ones To Watch & KROQ Locals Only Presents Summer Concerts At Union Station, beginning July 2nd, and happening every Saturday up until Labor Day weekend from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. This free concert series will feature two up and coming artists, and a well-known DJ in the stations verdant South Patio Garden.
Apart from the concert series, the station is currently planning a rotating collection of unique events, evocative music, cutting edge performances, unprecedented art exhibitions and thought-provoking cultural programing that is completely redefining Union Station. One of them being the Union Station 360, an innovative and multi-sensory experience that takes you on a journey through Los Angeles past and present via a projection sphere, that will be open from July 15 through July 24 from 8 p.m. to midnight. And the exhibit Cabinet of Curiosities, which features work by Los Angeles-based artists will be on display from August 6 through August 31. Additionally, some of the city’s most popular food trucks will also be on site, along with other creative culinary concepts.
Transit officials hope this live music series will encourage commuters to take public transit to attend this new summer series. Ken Pratt, Metro’s Director of Union Station Property Management said, “This is an important step for Union Station in that it introduces folks to this extraordinary public space and the beauty of one of Los Angeles’ most iconic architectural properties while encouraging Angelenos to take the light rail, subways, Metrolink, Amtrak and Metro buses to the station and experience the ease and comfort of our growing mass transit system.”
