Come delight your taste buds in a weekend of authentic, delicious Japanese food and drinks garnered from the streets of Little Tokyo at the 2nd Annual Delicious Little Tokyo tasting event. The event happens Friday, July 21 through Sunday, July 23, 2017.  This is a unique opportunity to experience not only the best food all of Little Tokyo has to offer, but to also participate in exclusive special interactive culinary and cultural workshops daily throughout the weekend. 

Learn from Japanese whiskey experts. Take a journey through Little Tokyo’s culinary past via a guided walking tour from the Little Tokyo Historical Society. Try your hand at knitting a foodie-themed figure at the “Amigurumi” beginner’s Knitting Workshop.  Jam out to your heart’s content with U-Space at their Beginner’s Ukulele Workshop.

Coffee lovers can participate in the Latte Art Competition with Café Dulce. Sushi lovers can make their own sushi at the Sushi Making Workshop with Mitsuru Sushi & Grill

Baldoria will host a Pizza Making Workshop that I am personally super excited to try.

Sushi-Making Workshop with Mitsuru Grill

Learn the history and art, proper form and technique of hand-rolling the perfect sushi from Little Tokyo legacy business owner of Mitsuru Grill and Master Sushi Chef, Mamoru Hanamura. At this hands-on sushi-making workshop, he will share his over 40 years of experience in the Little Tokyo neighborhood through four the creation of four different rolls: classic California RollSpicy Tuna RollVeggie Roll and Salmon Skin Roll. All materials will be provided.

Cocktail Demo with Wolf & Crane

Join Little Tokyo’s neighborhood highball bar, Wolf & Crane, for a lesson in mixology. Learn a few tips and tricks from these Japanese whiskey experts on how to concoct a perfect cocktail and have a sip (or two) of their favorites: Grandma Sue’s Gin and TonicTokyo to Manhattan and Yoshi’s Island. You will also learn how to make the limited Delicious Little Tokyo coffee cocktail special in collaboration with Cafe Dulce! Then, stay for Sunday happy hour with $5 drink specials into the night.

Kyaraben (Character Bento) Demo with Anime For Humanity

Kyaraben is a style of elaborately arranged bento (Japanese boxed lunch) that features food decorated to look like people, characters from popular media, animals, and plants. Join non-profit organization and anime enthusiasts, Anime for Humanity, for a fun, unique food demonstration on creating a beautiful bento box with food designs inspired by your favorite animations!
