A Deliciously Different Deli

A Look Inside Of Mels Deli

Mels Deli DTLAOn the corner of 6th and Harlem Place, a contemporary deli shop with all the deliciousness just opened in December of 2015. Mel’s Deli is cozy with a four-stool counter and a wide open view of Spring Street. With their creative definition of traditional deli foods, delivery within a one mile radius, catering capabilities and a secret menu*, Mel’s Deli is definitely a happening place.

Mels Deli DTLAMel’s Deli delivers fresh deli favorites with their own spin. House-made mustards and spreads, Hattie’s pickles, nothing-but-the-best deli meats and cheeses make formidably yummy fare. I’ll take it! I tasted the proof in the form of the Italian: paper-thin slices of salami, mortadella, prosciutto, provolone, fresh arugula, pickled red peppers and house-made olive oil spread in their French-Italian house roll best described as having a “newspaper crunch” by Mel’s owner, Brian. He was right. Definitely fresh, definitely dreamed up by a professional.

This contemporary deli shop is a casual charcuterie, too. Fine cheeses and meats by the slice and by the pound, pickles, vintage sodas, containers of their house-made spreads and even official Mel’s Deli t-shirts. All that and bags of chips, too.

Mels Deli DTLAMel’s Deli is easily accessible if you happen to live or work in the area. They have breakfast sandwiches that look amazing. And they cater too! So if your office is in the area and you’ve got hungry co-workers looking for something new, just think deli goodness. Or if you don’t have much time but you want a high quality lunch, they deliver within a one mile radius (213.488.1989). Maybe try something from their secret menu* and tell us about it by tagging #downtowndiaries…

*Secret Menu: Every few days Mel’s Deli adds very special things to their secret menu. Their secret menu can only be found on their Instagram @MelsDeliDTLA. Don’t worry if they’ve already posted a sandwich that piqued your interest, they’re happy to make it again as long as they have the ingredients.
